Allen, Robert

general, was born in 1815 in Ohio. He was graduated at West Point in 1836, and was second lieutenant in the Seminole war. In the Mexican war he received the brevet rank of major. He was promoted brigadier-general of volunteers in 1863, and was brevetted brigadier-general in the regular army in 1864. He received the brevet rank of majorgeneral in 1865. After the war he served again as chief quartermaster of the Pacific, and was retired March 21, 1878. He died Aug. 6, 1886, in Geneva, Switzerland.
