Hoyt, Albert Harrison

soldier, lawyer, journalist, author, was born Dec. 6, 1826, in Sandwich, N. H. He was a paymaster in the army in 1862-66, with the rank of major, and was brevetted lieutenant-colonel in 1865. Since 1866 he has resided principally in Boston, where he has been engaged in business and literary pursuits. He edited the New England Historical and Genealogical Register from 1868 till 1876, and the fourth volume of the Memorial Biographies. He has also published numerous papers on historical genealogical subjects.
