Hancher, John William

educator, clergyman, was born April 9, 1856, near Freedom, Ohio. During six years of his pastorates in Kansas and Iowa he pursued his studies, and in 1888 graduated from the Dakota School of Mines. He has traveled extensively in Europe and America; and is a man of strong will-power and untiring perseverance. Dr. Hancher is the founder of the Black Hills college of Hot Springs, S. D.; and was its president from its organization in 1889. He has lectured extensively through the west; has been a clergyman of the methodist episcopal church since 1889; and since March 15, 1897, has been pastor of the Grand Avenue Methodist Episcopal church of Kansas City, Mo.
