Hanback, Lewis
soldier, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born March 27, 1839, in Winchester, Ill. He served three and a half years in the union army during the war of the rebellion. He was probate judge of Shawnee county, Kan., for four years; was assistant United States attorney for the district of Kansas for more than two years; and in 1879 was appointed receiver of public moneys at Salina, Kan. He was elected a representative from Kansas to the forty-eighth congress; and was re-elected to the fortyninth congress as a republican.
