Heister, Daniel
soldier, merchant, congressman, was born in Berks county, Berks county, Pa. He was colonel, and afterward brigadier-general of the militia, and in service.
In 1784 he was elected to the supreme executive council of Pennsylvania; and in 1787 was appointed a commissioner of the Connecticut land claims. He was a member of the first, second, third and fourth congresses from Pennsylvania.
After this he removed to Hagerstown, Md.; and was elected from that state a member of the seventh and eighth congresses. He died March 8, 1804, in Washington.
