Gray, Horace
associate justice of the supreme court of the United States, was born March 24, 1828, in Boston, Mass. graduated Harvard college in the class of 1845 and from the Harvard Law school in 1849. He was admitted to the bar in 1851, and was appointed reporter of the supreme judicial court of Massachusetts in 1854 and held the position until 1861. He was appointed associate justice of the supreme judicial court of Massachusetts in 1864, and chief justice of that court in 1873; and was commissioned an associate justice of the supreme court of the United States in 1881.
