Gray, Giles H

lawyer, legislator, was born May 16, 1834, in New York city.

He attended the free college of the city of New York; was one of its first graduates, and has received the degrees of A. B. and A. M. from that college. He is a successful lawyer, and practices in all the courts of California. He has been a member of the city council of San Francisco; a member of the board of education of that city, and also of Oakland. He has served with distinction as a member of the California state legislature, and has been United States surveyor of customs for the port of San Francisco.
