Goodenow, Rufus K
soldier, state legislator, congressman, was born April 24, 1790, in Henniker, N. H. He entered the army in 1812 as captain in the thirtythird regiment of United States infantry, and served in that capacity until 1815.
Upon the organization of a state government he was appointed clerk of the courts of Oxford county, and removed to Paris, and held this office sixteen years. He was a member of the Maine legislature; a presidential elector in 1840; and represented his district in the thirty-first congress. He died March 24, 1863, in Paris, Ky.
