Goode, John

lawyer, state legislator, congressman, was born May 27, 1829, in Bedford county, Va. He was elected a member of the legislature of Virginia in 1851, and again in 1866. He was elected to the confederate congress in 1861; reelected in 1863, and served in that position until the close of the war. He was a member of the electoral college in 1852, and again in 1856. He was elected a representative from Virginia to the fortyfourth, forty-fifth and forty-sixth gresses as a democrat. con-
