Everett, Alexander Hill
diplomat, journalist, author, was born March 19, 1792, in Boston, Mass. He became charge d'affaires at Brussels in 1818; and from 1825 to 1829 was minister. In 1829 he was editor and principal proprietor of the North American Review, to which he had long been a contributor.
From 1830 to 1835 he was a member of the state legislature; and from 1845 until his death was commissioner to China. He published Europe; America; New Views on Population. He died June 29, 1847, in Canton, China.
