Ellis, Edward Sylvester

educator, author, was born April 11, 1840, in Geneva, Ohio. He was trustee and superintendent of schools of Trenton. He is the author of thirty juvenile works, and still issues two annually. He is the author of two arithmetics and various other educational works, and also The Youth's History of the United States, and The Standard History of the United States.

His other works include From the Throttle to the President's Chair; Lost in Samoa; The Camp Fires of General Lee; The Hunters of the Ozark; The Last War Trail; Righting the Wrong; Up the Tapajos; Down the Mississippi; Life of Daniel Boone; and Storm Mountain.
