Eldridge, Edwin R

educator, lecturer, college president, was born Aug. 31, 1843, in Burnettsville, Ind. He received his education at the Indiana common schools; Burnettsville seminary; Washington college, Iowa; and subsequently received the degree of doctor of laws from the Drake university of Des Moines, Iowa.

He has always been prominently identified with educational work; has been county superintendent of schools; for fourteen years was president of the Eastern Iowa Normal school; and for nineteen years was lecturer in normal institutes in connection with county superintendency and normal school presidency. He is now president of the State Normal college of Troy, Ala., which position he has filled since
