Eggleston, George Cary

soldier, Journalist, author, was born Nov. 26, 1839, in Vevay, Ind. He is a brother of Edward Eggleston. During the civil war he served in the confederate army, and afterwards filled several journalistic positions in New York city, becoming editor of the Commercial Advertiser in 1886. He is the author of How to Educate Yourself; A Man of Honor: A Rebel's Recollections; How to Make a Living; How to Make Money; The Big Brother, or a Story of the Indian War; Captain Sam; Signal Boys; The Wreck of the Red Bird; Strange Stories from History for Young People; Red Eagle; and Juggernaut: A Veiled Record.
