Eggleston, Joseph

soldier, congressman, was born Nov. 24, 1754, in Amelia county, Va. He served in the revolutionary war as a captain and major of cavalry under Colonel Henry Lee; and was in several of the battles fought by Gates and Greene. He served in the Virginia assembly for several years; was a representative in congress from Virginia from 1798 to 1801; and from the time of his leaving congress until his death was a justice of the peace. He died Feb. 13, 1811.
