Douthat, Robert William
educator, author, was born April 13, 1840, in Christiansburg, Va. He graduated from Emory and Henry college, and has attained success as an educator. For eleven years he was professor of language in the Missouri University School of Mines; was a college president for ten years; and is now professor of Latin in the West Virginia university of Morgantown, W. Va. He is the author of several educational works, and contributes extensively to current literature. DOVENER, BLACKBURN BARRETT, soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born April 20, 1842, in Cabell county, W. Va.
He raised a company of loyal Virginians and served in the United States volunteer infantry during the war. He was elected as a representative of Ohio county in the legislature of 1883; and was elected to the fifty-fourth and fifty-fifth congresses as a republican. was a
