Donnan, William G
soldier, lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born June 30, 1834, in West Charlton, N.
Y. He was elected treasurer and recorder of Buchanan county, Iowa, and held the office until 1862. He entered the union army as a private in 1862, and rose to the rank of brevet major for efficient services in the field, serving to the close of the rebellion. He was a member of the state senate in 1868 and 1870; and was elected to the fortysecond congress, and re-elected to the forty-third congress as a republican.
