Carpenter, William
author, was born in 1830 in England. He was an eccentric English printer and stenographer who removed from England to Baltimore in 1879. He strenuously advocated the theory that the earth is flat, revolving on a central axis with the sun stationary over the center. Among his various writings are: The Earth Not a Globe, by Common Sense; Sir Isaac Newton's Theoretical Astronomy Examined and Refuted by Common Sense; Water not Convex; Proctor's Planet Earth; and Something About Spiritualism. He died in 1896.
