Browne, Thomas H. Bayly

soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born in 1844 at Accomack, Va. He volunteered as a private in company F, thirty-ninth regiment Virginia infantry; afterward served as a private in Chew's battery of the Stuart horse artillery; and was surrendered with the army of northern Virginia in April, 1865. In 1873 he was elected attorney for the commonwealth of Accomack county; was presidential elector on the Blaine ticket in 1884; was elected to the fiftieth congress, and was re-elected to the fifty-first congress as a republican.
