Briggs, D. Luther
business man, public official, legislator, was born Jan. 12, 1849, in Sackville, N. B. He has been successfully engaged in the wholesale meat business in Middletown, Conn., for many years; has served as alderman for two years, and for four years was mayor of the city.
He has also been chairman of the town committee, justice of the peace, and filled various other public offices of honor in his city, county and state. He has been president of the republican state league, and is a prominent member of various secret orders. In 1897 he served with distinction as a member of the Connecticut state legislature, and was a member of several important committees.
