Bradford, John J
lawyer, legislator, was born March 12, 1838, in Conecuh county, Ala. He received his education in Green county, Miss.; and graduated 'from the Salem high school. He was educated a merchant; was clerk of court in Hancock county for eight years; and in 1871 was elected to the Mississippi state legislature.
During the war he served as confederate capa tain in Johnson's army. In 1868 he was admitted to the bar, and practiced his profession for a quarter of a century. For ten years he was statistical agent of his county for the department of agriculture of Washington, D. C. He is now principally engaged in farming, stock-raising, and fruit-growing at Augusta, Miss.
