Bowman, Thomas (Bishop was born July)

bishop, was born July 15, 1817, in Berwick, Pa. He attended the Wilbraham academy, Massachusetts; Cazenovia seminary; and graduated from the Dickinson college, Pennsylvania. During 1848-58 he was principal of the Dickinson seminary of Williamsport, Pa.; during 1858-72 president of the De Pauw university of Greencastle, Ind.; and in 1864-65 was chaplain to the United States senate.

Since 1872 the Rt. Rev. Thomas Bowman has been bishop of the methodist episcopal church. In this office he has attended all the conferences in the United States and in Europe, India, Japan, China and Mexico. was
