Bowie, Oden
farmer, soldier, state senator, governor, was born Nov. 10, 1826, in Prince George county, Md. He was educated at St. Mary's college, Baltimore; and his occupation was that of a farmer.
He was a captain in the Mexican war; frequently served in the assembly and senate of the state; and was governor of Maryland from 1867 to 1871. He was president of the Baltimore and Potomac railway company from the time of its construction, and was also president of the Baltimore City Passenger Railway company.
