Bloxham, William D
legislator, governor, was born July 9, 1835, in Leon county, Fla. In 1860 he was elected a member of the Florida state legislature; was presidential elector in 1868, and in 1870 was elected lieutenant-governor. In 1876 he was a member of the state executive committee; was appointed secretary of state in 1880 for a term of four years; and during 1886-90 was United States surveyor-general to Florida. During 1890-96 he was state comptroller. In 1896 he was elected governor of Florida for a second term of four years.
