Bishop, Rosewell P
soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born Jan. 6, 1843, in Sidney, N. Y. In 1861 he enlisted as a private in company C, forty-third New York volunteer infantry; and in 1862, he was wounded at Lees Mills, Va., necessitating the amputation of his right arm. He commenced practicing law at Ludington, Mich., and was elected prosecuting attorney of Mason county in 1876, 1878, and 1884. He was clected to the Michigan legislature in 1882 and 1892, and was elected to the fiftyfourth and re-elected to the fifty-fifth congress as a republican.
