Benecke, Louis

lawyer, legislator, was born May 1, 1843, in Brunswick, Germany. He received his education in the common schools in Blankenburg college, Germany, and in the high schools of Brunswick, Mo. He served during the civil in the forty-ninth regiment of the Missouri volunteers, and captain of company I. For fourteen years he was mayor of his adopted city war was of Brunswick, Mo.; for twenty-two years president of the board of education of that city; and a director of the First National bank of Brunswick. For four years he served as a member of the Missouri state senate. He stands high in fraternal societies; is grand dictator of the Knights of Honor; judge-advocate, junior, senior, and department commander of the G. A. R. of Missouri.
