Baugher, Henry L
educator, author, was born about 1805 in Abbottstown, Pa. He was licensed to preach by the Maryland Lutheran synod; was chosen pastor at Boonesboro, Md., in 1829, and took charge of a classical school in Gettysburg in 1830. The school expanded into a college in 1832, and Mr. Baugher became professor of the Greek language and belles lettres; was elected to the presidency of the college in 1850, and continued in that office until his death. He died April, 1886, in Gettysburg, Pa.
