Barnard, Isaac D
soldier, lawyer, United States senator, was born July 18, 1791, in Aston, Pa. He was distinguished at Lyons Creek and at the capture of Fort George in 1813; and left the army in 1815. He was admitted to the bar in 1816, and was soon made deputy attorney general. He was chosen state senator in 1820; secretary of state in 1826; and was United States senator from Pennsylvania , from 1827 to 1831. He died Feb. 28, 1834, in Westchester, Pa.
