congressman, was born in Pennsylvania. He was a representative in congress from that state from 1835 to 1837.
ASHBOTH, ALEXANDER SANDOR, general, was born Dec. 18, 1811, in Hungary. He served in the Austrian army, and afterwards devoted himself to engineering. In 1861 he offered his services to the government, and went as chief of Fremont's staff to Missouri; and was made brigadier-general. In 1865 he was brevetted major-general for services in Florida; and was appointed minister to the Argentine Republic in 1866. He died Jan. 21, 1868, in Buenos Ayres. a
