Adams, Charles H
lawyer, manufacturer, state senator, congressman, was born in 1824, in Coxsackie, N. Y. He studied law and practiced until 1850, when he engaged in manufacturing at Cohoes, N.
Y.; and served as trustee and president of the water board in that place before it was made a city. In 1851 he served as aid to the governor. In 1857 he was elected a member of the assembly; was state senator in 1872 and 1873; and was a member of the republican national convention in 1872. For a long time he was president of the National Bank of Cohoes, and was the first mayor of the city. He was elected a representative from New York to the forty-fourth congress.
