Young, Thomas Lowry

soldier, state senator, congressman, governor, was born Dec. 14, 1832, in Ireland. He settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served in the union army from 1861 to 1865, rising to the rank of colonel and brevet brigadier-general. He was appointed assistant city auditor in 1865; and also elected a member of the state house of representatives for the term of two years. He was elected state senator in 1871. He was lieutenant-governor in 1875; and in 1877 became governor by the election of R. B.

Hayes to the presidency. He was elected a representative from Ohio to the fortysixth and forty-seventh congresses as a republican. He died July 20, 1888, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
