Wright, John
antiquarian, bibliophite, author, was born Nov. 20, 1836, in Wilmington, Del. In 1863 he graduated from the Union college of Schenectady, N. Y.; received the degree of doctor of divinity from the same institution in 1891; and in 1866 he graduated from the Union Theological seminary.
From 1869-74 he was rector of the Trinity church of Bay City, Mich.; from 1874-87 was rector of St. Matthew's church of Boston; and since that time has been rector of St.
Paul's church of St. Paul, Minn. Dr.
Wright has a library of nearly five thousand volumes containing rare Bibles and prayer books, and is considered an authority on American bibliography. He is the author of Early Bibles of America; Early Prayer Books of America; and Historic Bibles of America. He has been elected a member of several learned societies in Europe and America.
