Williams, Marmaduke

lawyer, jurist, state legislator, congressman, was born April 6, 1772, in Caswell county, N.

C. He was a representative in congress from North Carolina. In 1810 he moved, with his family, to Madison, county, Ala., and thence to Tuscaloosa in 1818. He was repeatedly elected to the legislature, and was a delegate from Tuscaloosa county to the convention which framed the state constitution. In 1832 he was elected judge of the county court, which office he held until 1842. He died Oct. 29, 1850, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
