Wentworth, John
lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born July 17, 1745, in Somersville, N. H. He was register of probate, which office he held until his death. He was elected a representative to the New Hampshire state legislature from 1776 to 1780. He was a delegate from New Hampshire to the continental congress in the years 1778 and 1779, serving four sessions, and was one of the signers of the articles of confederation.
He was a member of the state senate from 1784 until his death, and was an active member of the committee of safety during the revolution. He died Jan. 10, 1787, in Dover, N. H.
