Wilmot, David
lawyer, jurist, congressman, United States senator, was born Jan. 20, 1814, in Bethany, Pa. He was a member of congress from 1845 to 1851, and was subsequently president judge of the thirteenth judicial district of Pennsylvania, which position he resigned, and to which he was re-elected. In 1861 he was elected a senator in congress, where he remained until 1863. He was also a delegate to the peace congress of 1861, and in 1863 was appointed a judge of the court of claims. He died March 16, 1868, in Towanda, Pa.
