Wells, John Doane
physician, surgeon, lecturer, was born in Boston, Mass. In 1817 he graduated from Harvard college; then studied medicine, and attained success as one of the foremost physicians and surgeons of New England.
In 1826 he was appointed professor of anatomy and physiology in the Berkshire Medical school; and three years later was elected to the anatomical chair in the university of Maryland. He also became a noted and popular lecturer; and was earnest and enthusiastic in his devotion to science. He died in the summer of 1830.
