Wells, Erastus
railroad president, congressman, was born Dec. 2, 1823, in Jefferson county, N. Y. He moved to st.
Louis, Mo., and established the first omnibus line in that city, and the first street railroad company. He was, for fifteen years, a member of the city council; and was president of the Missouri Railroad Railroad company, and director in several incorporated companies. He was a elected a representative from Missouri to the forty-first, forty-second, forty-third, and forty-fourth congresses; and was also elected to the forty-sixth congress as a democrat.
