Trimble, Robert

lawyer, jurist, state legislator, was born in 1777 in Berkeley county, Va. He was elected to the Kentucky state legislature; and in 1808 was chosen judge of the court of appeals, but soon resigned the position. In 1810 he was made chief justice of the state; in 1813 became district attorney for the state; and in 1816 was appointed federal judge of Kentucky. In 1826 he was appointed justice of the supreme court of the United States. He died Aug. 25, 1828.
