Trimble, John
lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born Feb. 7, 1812, in Roane county, Tenn. From 1836 to 1841 he was attorney general of the state for the Nashville district. He was a member of the state assembly from 1843 to 1845; of the state senate from 1845 to 1847, and again from 1859 to 1861. In 1862 he was appointed district attorney of the United States for middle Tennessee, which office he resigned in 1864. He was again in the state senate from 1865 to 1867, when he resigned. He was elected a representative from Tennessee to the fortieth congress; and was re-elected to the forty-first congress as a democrat.
