Tree, Lambert
lawyer, jurist, state legislator, was born Nov. 29, 1832, in Washington, D. C. In 1855 he moved to Chicago and practiced law. In 1864 he was elected president of the Chicago Law institute. In 1870 he was elected one of the circuit judges at Chicago to fill an unexpired term, and was re-elected for a full term; and in 1885 was the candidate of the democrats in the state legislature for United States senator, but was defeated by Gen. John A. Logan by one vote. In 1885 he was appointed United States minister to Belgium.
