Thompson, William G

soldier, lawyer, jurist, state senator, congressman, was born Jan. 17, 1830, in Butler county, Pa. In 1854 he was elected prosecuting attorney for two years; in 1856 was elected a state senator for four years. He entered the union army in 1862 as a major, and served until 1864. He was a presidential elector in 1864, and was elected district attorney for the eighth judicial district of Iowa, and served seven years. He was appointed chief justice of the territory of Idaho in January, 1879. He was elected a representative from Iowa to the forty-sixth and forty-seventh congresses as a republican.

THOMPSON, WILLIAM JACKSON, railroad president, was born Sept. 27, 1835, in Rappahannock county, Va. Since 1892 he has been president of the White and Black River Valley railway at Little Rock, Ark.
