Thwaites, Reuben Gold

journalist, author, was born May 15, 1853, in Boston, Mass. He is an antiquarian writer of Wisconsin, and secretary of the State Historical society, and the author of Historic Waterways; Six Hundred Miles of Canoeing Down the Rock, Fox and Wisconsin Rivers; The Story of Wisconsin; Our Cycling Tour in England; and The Colonies, 1492-1750. He is also the editor of the Jesuit Relations and Allied Documents. THWING, CHARLES FRANKLIN, clergyman, educator, college president, author, was born Nov. 9, 1853, in New Sharon, Maine. He received his education at Phillips academy of Andover, Mass.; at the Harvard college, and the Theological seminary. He has filled pastorates in Cambridge, Mass., in Minneapolis, Minn., and since 1890 has been president of the Western Reserve university, He Adelbert college of Cleveland, Ohio. is the author of American Colleges; The Reading of Books; The Working Church; The Family: an Historical and Social Study; and The College Woman. In conjunction with his wife, Mrs. Carrie F. Butler Thwing, he has published a genealogical work on the family.
