Thompson, Thomas Oliver

journalist, was born in Woodstock, Ill. He moved to Chicago in 1871 and became connected with the Chicago Times, with which he was connected for eight years.

He resigned the editorial chair to become private secretary of the elder Carter H.

Harrison, which he filled during 1879-85.

He next served as a member of the Cook county board of education for three years, being president of that body during the last year of his term. He has written several works; Food Frauds; The Tariff; and Anarchy and Anarchist. He now edits and manages two trade papers.
