TAWNEY, JAMES Á., lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born Jan. 3, 1855, near Gettysburg, Pa. He was elected to the state senate of Minnesota in 1890; and was elected to the fifty-third and fiftyfourth congresses and re-elected to the fifty-fifth congress as a republican.
