Potter, Clarkson Nott
surveyor, lawyer, congressman, was born April 25, 1825, in Schenectady, N. Y. He was a surveyor in Wisconsin; studied law in that state, and after coming to the bar commenced the practice of his profession in New York city in 1847. In 1868 he was elected a representative from New York to the forty-first congress; and was reelected to the two succeeding congresses; and was also elected to the forty-fifth congress as a democrat. He died Jan. 23, 1882, in New York city.
