Tatnall, Josiah
soldier, United States senator, was born in Bonaventure, Ga., in 1762. In 1793 he was appointed colonel of a Georgia regiment, and in 1800 a brigadier-general, participating extensively in the military affairs of the state, and serving occasionally in the legislature.
He also served in 1796 at Louisville in the general assembly that rescinded the Yazoo act of 1795. He was a senator in congress from Georgia from 1796 to 1799. He died June 6, 1803, in the West Indies.
