Stakebake, Andrew J

soldier, educator, lawyer, legislator, was born March 16, 1843, in Preble county, Ohio.

During the civil war he served three years as a soldier in company E, thirty-fifth Ohio volunteer infantry; and was totally disabled in the left arm by a gunshot at Missionary Ridge Nov. 25, 1863. For many years he was engaged in missionary work; was county school superintendent; president of the city school board of Winchester. He is one of the foremost lawyers of Indiana at Winchester; has served two terms as deputy prosecuting attorney; one term as deputy county treasurer; and two terms during 1893-95 as representative in the Indiana state legislature.
