Shively, Benjamin F

educator, lawyer, congressman, was born March 20, 1857, in St. Joseph county, Ind. During 1874-80 he taught school; and then engaged in journalism.

He was elected to the forty-eighth congress to fill a vacancy. He graduated in law from the Ann Arbor university with the class of 1886, and was admitted to the bar. He was elected to the fiftieth and fiftyfirst congresses, and re-elected to the fiftysecond congress as a democrat. In 1896 he was the democratic nominee for governor of Indiana.
