Shepherd, James Osgood

educator, lawyer, jurist, was born in Palmyra, Va. He was a graduate of the university of Virginia; engaged in educational work, and became county superintendent of schools. He is now an able lawyer of Virginia at Buena Vista; has been judge of the corporation court of Roanoke; judge of Hustings court, Buena Vista. and SHEPHERD, NATHANIEL GRAHAM, author, was born in 1835 in New York city. At the beginning of the civil war he became a war correspondent for the New York Tribune. He contributed largely to periodicals and journals; and was the author of The Dead Drummer-Boy; The Roll-Call; and A Summer Reminiscence. He died May 23, 1869, in New York city.
