Ferguson, Emory C
contractor, miner, legislator, was born March 5, 1833, in Westchester county, N. Y. He moved to San Francisco in 1854, arriving there one year later. He engaged in mining and mercantile business, but subsequently settled in Washington, where he became a successful carpenter and builder. In 1864 he was elected to the territorial legislature, has since served seven sessions, and was speaker of the house for one term. In 1884-85 he was a commissioner to the cotton centennial exposition held in New Orleans. He has been mayor of the city of Snohomish for six terms, and is now engaged in quartz mining.
