Settle, Thomas (Lawyer jurist state legislator)

lawyer, jurist, state legislator, congressman, was born in 1791, in Rockingham county, N. C. He was a representative in the legislature of that state in 1815, and in 1826-28; at which last session he was speaker of the house of commons. He was a representative in congress from 1817 to 1821; in 1832 was chosen judge of the superior court of law and equity, and held the office for twenty years. He died Aug. 5, 1857, in Rockingham county, N. C.
